利根川进（Tonegawa Susumu），出生于日本名古屋市，博士学位，毕业于京都大学和加利福尼亚大学圣迭戈分校。在家中排行第二，在高中时对化学产生了兴趣，后就读京都大学，因“发现抗体多样性的遗传学原理”而获1987年诺贝尔生理学或医学奖 [1]  。
