Sydney Brenner is one of pioneers of molecular biology with Watson and Crick. He involved in coding problem, gene network for development of C. Elegan, genome sequencing and comparative genomics. This is the talk which he gave in TATA institute of theoretical study, which revealed his insight on the theoretical foundation of biology.

I likes his metaphor of studying biology like understanding a city. If we only know the names and their phone no. in a white page, this is gene sequencing. If we categorize them in a yellow page, it is gene ontology. They still don't help us to understand the biological function. We need to understand how people move in different places and do different things etc. This organization principal is the soul of system biology.
