I went out to the woods to-day

To hide away from you,

From you a thousand miles away –

But you came, too.

And yet the old dull thought would stay,

And all my heart benumb –

If you were but a mile away

You would not come.

今天我到森林中去，

是为了躲开你，

虽然远在千里之外，

你竟赶来。

虽说痴想依旧萦绕，

但心早已麻木，

倘若只有一里之遥，

你不会到。
