《美国科学院院刊》最近的一项研究表明，同行评审系统导致好的研究不能发表。个中原由是什么？关键是竞争。研究发现，参与者之间的竞争使他们有可能表现很“战略”，有意压低竞争对手的分数以提高自己的机会。作者指出，竞争导致更高的拒稿率，但并不意味着更高质量的作品被出版。他们声称这项研究结果可以解释为什么许多科学上的突破性研究最终发表在较低级的杂志上。老文相信这项研究也可相当程度解释为什么创新性高的项目反而容易遭同行枪毙。
看上去“普朗克定理”、“历史学的中国定理”依然有效。
