Undergraduate Syllabus for Medical Psychology

The format of the course will be lecture-like, I will be presenting information in many classes, but students are encouraged to ask questions and make comments during classes. We will also have guest lectures and panel discussions. Plus seeing cases is a vital part of learning about medical psychology. If you miss a class, make sure to get a copy of the notes from a classmate or come to office hours.
Knowledge, Skills, and Values Consistent with the Science and Application of Psychology
1. Knowledge Base of Psychology
Students will demonstrate familiarity with the major concepts, theoretical perspectives, empirical findings, and historical trends in psychology.
2. Research Methods in Psychology
Students will understand the basic research methods in psychology, including research design,data analysis, and interpretation.
3. Critical Thinking Skills in Psychology
Students will respect and use critical and creative thinking, skeptical inquiry, and, when possible, the scientific approach to solve problems related to behavior and mental processes.
4. Application of Psychology
Students will understand and apply psychological principles to personal, social, and organizational issues.
5. Values in Psychology
Students will be able to weigh evidence, tolerate ambiguity, act ethically, and reflect other values that are the underpinnings of psychology as a discipline,

Grading System and Evaluation Methods
The final score consists of two parts: 30% for manifestations in usual time such as attendance, homework, and laboratory skills; 70% for final paper examination.
Extra Credit:
Extra credit opportunities will occur during class throughout the semester and will be unannounced. You can earn extra points by giving a presentation or by participating in an exercise offered in class， you can also earn extra points by being teaching assistant or research assistant. Extra credit cannot be made up for missed classes! No exceptions!
