Paul Lauterbur (1929 ~ March 27, 2007) was an American scientist. He is committed to the research of nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and its applications. Lauterpur also extended the application of nuclear magnetic resonance imaging technology to the fields of Biochemistry and biophysics. From 1963 to 1985, he served as an associate professor at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, where he carried out research on MRI development. [1] Since 1985, he has served as the director of the biomedical nuclear magnetic resonance Laboratory of the University of Illinois. He won the 2003 Nobel Prize in physiology or medicine together with the British scientist Peter Mansfield for his breakthrough achievements in the field of nuclear magnetic resonance imaging technology. He died on March 27, 2007 in Urbana, Illinois, at the age of 77.
