Parasitoids kill their arthropod hosts to acquire nutrients during their larval stage. As adults, most parasitoids need to feed on carbohydrate-rich sources, such as nectar (both floral and extrafloral) and honeydew, as an energy source for maintenance and locomotion. The absence of these sugar sources may reduce their fecundity and mobility and, consequently, their potential to act as biological control agents in agroecosystems (Heimpel Jervis, 2005 ).
