[J-2012] Characteristics of chip evolution with elevating cu
melius 2012-9-4 20:38
Characteristics of chip evolution with elevating cutting speed from low to very high Liu Zhanqiang*, Su Guosheng To validate the correlation between chip morphology and material dynamic mechanical properties, a wide-range cutting speed (from 30 m/min to 7000 m/min) experiment is conducted with AerMet100 steel. The chips are collected and photos are taken with an optical microscope. The focus is put on workpiece material embrittlement and chip morphology evolution with the cutting speed rising. It is found that with the increase of cutting speed the workpiece material embrittles. At 7000 m/min the metal becomes completely brittle and the chip is made up of small non-plastic fractured fragments. Characteristics of the cutting temperature and cutting heat in the process are also presented. 2012-Characteristics of chip evolution with elevating cutting speed from low to .pdf

[J-2012] Effect of cutting speed on surface integrity
melius 2012-9-4 20:33
Effect of cutting speed on surface integrity and chip morphology in high-speed machining of PM nickel-based superalloy FGH95 Du Jin Zhanqiang Liu* High-speed machining is being recognized as one of the key manufacturing technologies for getting higher productivity and better surface integrity. FGH95 powder metallurgy superalloy is a kind of nickel-based superalloy which is produced by near-net-shape technology. With increasing demands for high precision and high performance of FGH95 components in aerospace industry, it is essential to recognize that the machined surface integrity may determine machined part service performance and reliability. Then, little is known about the machined surface integrity of this superalloy. Thus, the surface integrity in high-speed machining of FGH95 is investigated in this paper. Experiments are conducted on a CNC milling center with coated carbide tools under dry cutting conditions. The surface integrity is evaluated in terms of surface roughness, microhardness, and white layer. The influence of cutting speed on chip morphology is also investigated. Experiment results show that surface integrity and chip morphology of FGH95 are very sensitive to the cutting speed. When cutting speeds are below 2,400 m/min, the values of surface roughness have little variation, while when cutting speeds are in the range of 2,800–3,600 m/min, the values of surface roughness are higher than that of other cutting speeds. Severe work hardening is observed resulting from high-speed machining of FGH95 superalloy. The higher the cutting speed, the higher the surface hardness. When cutting speeds are in the range of 2,800–3,600 m/min,the white layer thickness is slightly higher than that of other cutting speeds. In high-speed machining of FGH95, the chip is segmented and has a typical sawtooth shape. The degree of serrated chip increases with the cutting speed. When the cutting speeds exceed 2,400 m/min, serrated chips change into fragment chips. Keywords Cutting speed . Powder metallurgy . Surface integrity. High-speed machining . bhwangustc 2012-8-27 23:12
The XXIX International Colloquium on Group-Theoretical Methods in Physics August 20-26, 2012 Chern Institute of Mathematics Tianjin, Nankai University, China The series of International Colloquia on Group-Theoretical Methods in Physics was initiated in 1972 following the efforts of Henri Bacry in Marseille and Aloysio Janner in Nijmegen. The aim was to provide a forum for physicists interested in group-theoretical methods which were mostly represented at that time by two large communities, namely elementary-particle theorists and phenomenologists on the one hand and by solid-state specialists on the other hand. There were also mathematicians who were eager to apply newly-developed group-theoretical techniques and algebraic structures. Since then the colloquia have been held in various places and have earned a strong scientific reputation around the world. Currently the ICGTMP attract theoretical and experimental physicists, mathematicians and scientists in related disciplines who are interested in the latest methods and applications of group theory in its widest sense. The XXIX International Colloquium on Group-Theoretical Methods in Physics (GROUP29) which will be held from August 20, 2012 to August 26, 2012, at the Chern Institute of Mathematics, Nankai University, in Tianjin, China.

How to publish in Science
liwenbianji 2010-12-8 12:22
Have you ever dreamed of publishing in Science ? Richard Stone, the Asia News Editor for Science , gave a talk for the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences about what you need to do to fulfill this dream. To me the most striking things were: 1) Richards assertion that you dont need to be famous or American to publish in Science . 2) Although only 30% of submissions get sent out for peer review, nearly a third of these papers are eventually published. These aspects fit with my experience as a member of the international scientific community. Here, I have a PDF version of the talk, which contains: A breakdown of the subjects Science publishes in Answers to the question What makes a Science article? Strategies for writing your cover letter Examples of papers that get published I am excited to share this with you, and we hope that it helps to make your hope of publishing in Science a reality. Also, we encourage you to go to www.sciencemagchina.cn for more information. All the best, Daniel Broaddus Richard Stone's Presentation: http://www.sciencenet.cn/upload/blog/file/2010/12/2010128121312886695.pdf

[转载]34th International Symposium on Remote Sensing of Environmen
weixiuping 2010-11-17 09:31
34th International Symposium on Remote Sensing of Environment (ISRSE) Sydney, 10-15 April 2011 The GEOSS Era: Towards Operational Environmental Monitoring The 34th International Symposium for Remote Sensing of the Environment (ISRSE) is to be held in Sydney from 10-15 April, 2011, and it promises to be an excellent high quality Symposium on Remote Sensing of the Environment. The first of these Symposia was held in 1962 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA under the direction of the Willow Run Laboratories of the University of Michigan and it has continued in a similar form ever since. The Symposia series is now guided by the international committee (ICRSE) comprising experts in the field of remote sensing who represent most of the worlds national space agencies. ISRSE has become one of the main forums for programmatic discussions on remote sensing components of the Global Earth Observation system of Systems- GEOSS, currently being implemented through the Group on Earth Observation GEO, which (at the time of preparation) is composed of 80 member countries, 58 participating organizations and 5 observers. Sydney, Australias largest city is strategically positioned with excellent access to Asia Pacific countries. This ensures that a significant number of remote sensing scientists from this region will be able to attend. The Symposium will provide a platform for countries with established and emerging earth observation programs to report on their progress, as well as new initiatives in the remote sensing arena. As well, the 10-year Implementation Plan of the Group on Earth Observation (GEO) is well underway and therefore the Symposium provides an important opportunity for GEO members and task teams to present details of progress of their work. The local organising committee will aim to host key people from GEO. Attendances at past ISRSE have been increasing with a large attendance of over 800 at the 2009 meeting in Stresa Italy. It is expected that a large contingent from overseas will attend this conference. Key topics covered in the Symposium are listed on the Call for Abstracts below. Call for Abstracts Abstract Submissions close on Wednesday 1st September 2010 Don't miss out on the opportunity to take part in the program for the 34th International Symposium for Remote Sensing of the Environment. Submissions are open for oral presentations, poster presentations and plenary sessions (by invitation only). For detailed information on abstract submission guidelines, themes, and to download the abstract template, please visit the Symposium website at http://www.isrse34.org/abstracts.asp Themes for Submission Authors are requested to submit their abstract according to one of the Symposium themes below: Climate change and atmosphere Agriculture: food crisis and reducing poverty and hunger Forests, Ecosystems and Biodiversity Disaster reduction and response Coastal and Marine resources Water: a limited and degraded resource Urban environments and Cultural heritage monitoring and mitigation Health and wellbeing Regional, international programs and applications Airborne remote sensing applications and technologies Data and Information systems: spatial data infrastructures emerging technologies Societal benefits of earth observations: applications and assessment methodologies This symposium provides a unique opportunity for remote sensing practitioners, scientists, system engineers and policy makers to share their knowledge and gain an excellent coverage of the current status of a range of remote sensing applications and developments now critical for the sustainability of the Earths environment. Important Date Call for Abstracts: Now Open Registration Open:June 2010 Abstract Submission Deadline:1 September 2010 Workshop Submission Deadline:1 September 2010 Acceptance Notification:October 2010 Author Registration Deadline:5 January 2011 Final Paper Deadline:15 January 2011 Symposium Opens:10 April 2011 Symposium Closes:15 April 2011 Address for Communications Please contact the Symposium Managers at the address below for further information.

Take a deep breath and then read this http://astrobob.areavoices.com/2010/06/16/take-a-deep-breath-and-then-read-this/ 以下图片无商业用途。 (1) Sunset from the ISS http://www.internet-d.com/?p=9581 Explanation: What are these strange color bands being seen from the International Space Station? The Sun setting through Earths atmosphere. Pictured above, a sunset captured last month by the ISSs Expedition 23 crew shows in vivid detail many layers of the Earths thin atmosphere. Part of the Earth experiencing night crosses the bottom of the image. Above that, appearing in deep orange and yellow, is the Earths troposphere, which contains 80 percent of the atmosphere by mass and almost all of the clouds in the sky. Above the troposphere, seen as a light blue band with white clouds, is the stratosphere, part of the Earths atmosphere where airplanes fly and some hardy bacteria float. Above the stratosphere, visible as a darker blue bands, are higher and thinner atmospheric levels that gradually fade away into the cold dark vacuum of outer space. Sunset is not an uncommon sight for occupants of the International Space Station, because it can be seen as many as 16 times a day.
