From wikipedia : A New Year's resolution is a commitment that an individual makes to a project or the reforming of a habit , often a lifestyle change that is generally interpreted as advantageous. The name comes from the fact that these commitments normally go into effect on New Year's Day and remain until fulfilled or abandoned. More socio-centric examples include resolutions to donate to the poor more often, to become more assertive , or to become more economically or environmentally responsible . Most popular goals in the United States include: Lose weight --Zuojun's comment: Very hard for people over 40. Get out of debt --Zuojun: I have NO intension to pay off my mortgage; I only intend to beat the rent! Become more organized --Zuojun: Yes, I could improve on this. Maintain a diary --Zuojun: Will a Blog do? Maybe not. Save money --Zuojun: What for? So, it can lose half of its value during the next black Friday? Improve grades --Zuojun: I will tell my son that. Get a better job --Zuojun: I already have the best job, English editing. Get fit --Zuojun: Sure. Eat right --Zuojun: Trying. Get a better education --Zuojun: Too late for me. Drink less alcohol --Zuojun: Never a problem for me. Quit smoking --Zuojun: I cant because I do not even smoke. Reduce stress --Zuojun: YES! Take a trip --Zuojun: How about three trips in 2 months? Volunteer to help others --Zuojun: Definitely. Be less grumpy --Zuojun: I am not that old yet. Be more independent --Zuojun: Cant do that any better, or I have to live by myself. Learn something new (such as a foreign language or music) No time in 2010. Try to get up early in the morning NO, NO, NO! Time management Yes! Help the poor YES! Success rate according to wiki: Recent research shows that while 52% of participants in a resolution study were confident of success with their goals, only 12% actually achieved their goals .

Example For Abstract 1300MPa Grade High Strength Steel for Bolts with Weijun HUI1, Han DONG1, Yuqing WENG2, Silian CHEN1, Maoqiu WANG1 (1.Central Iron Steel Research Institute, Beijing 100081, China; 2.The Chinese Society for Metals, Beijing 100711, China) ABSTRACT: By the increase in Mo content, the addition of microalloying elements V and Nb and by reducing the contents of Mn, P and S based on the composition of steel 42CrMo, we have developed a 1300MPa-grade high strength steel (ADF1) for bolts. Sustained load bending test, sustained load tensile test and stress corrosion cracking test have been carried out to evaluate the delayed fracture resistance of steel ADF1 and commercial steel 42CrMo. The results show that ADF1 has superior delayed fracture resistance to that of 42CrMo. Its concluded that the superior delayed fracture resistance of ADF1 is mainly due to the increase of tempering temperature, fine homogeneously distributed MC carbide and fine prior austenite grain size. Schedule of Events First Announcement October 2008 Second Announcement and Call for Papers June 2009 Deadline for Abstracts 30th September 2009 Notification of Acceptance to Authors November 2009 Preliminary Programme January 2010 Online registration opening 1st February 2010 Deadline for Manuscripts 29th April 2010 Space Propulsion 2010 3rd- 6th May 2010 The success of the 2008 Space Propulsion conference in Crete, underlined by the delegates unanimous appreciation for the organization of such an event in Europe has resulted in the introduction of a Space Propulsion international forum in Europe. The aim of the forum is to open the way for the communities of both spacecraft and space transportation propulsion to work together to support ongoing and future work in the field. For this reason ESA and 3AF, in collaboration with the major National European Agencies and with the organizational support of 3AF will therefore introduce this conference on a regular two yearly basis. The 2010 Space Propulsion programme will be structured in such a way as to: Address a global and a pragmatic approach for propulsion issues in the short, medium and long term, following the recent ESA ministerial conference (The Hague 2008) and other decisional events in the international scenario, and in support of the preparation for future major decisional milestones in the international space arena, Highlight European and international ambition towards challenging space exploration programmes Expose consequences of propulsion techniques following the application of systems of systems approaches, Highlight duality of utilisation of propulsion techniques in civilian and military applications Promote information exchanges at international level in the two main areas of propulsion for spacecraft and for space transportation. Presentations on Spacecraft Propulsion and Propulsion for Space Transportation will run in parallel while some plenary events will be shared among the two subjects. Technical as well as programmatic issues will be debated to support the preparation of future activities and roadmaps in all fields of space propulsion. In order to ensure the highest level of contributions and return for the space community, ESA, CNES, DLR, ASI and other major European Space Delegations together with a significant international industrial support, will participate in the constitution of the conference programme.
