一则报道(1): http://phys.org/news/2015-03-silicon-photonic-chips-processor-package.html 另一则报道(2): http://www.cipeasia.com/400.html 首先我想说,报道1中的两个人的报告我都听过,上周是德国物理年会(DPG),在柏林工大开,据说有6000多人参加(这只是德国年会的一个分场,可以想下德国物理年会的规模有多大)。我们老板搞了一个特别分场:光互连技术,邀请了IBM,IMEC的人过来。上周4,报道1中的 人物1Dangel在DPG做了一个邀请报告,我听下来记住了2点:一个是big data时代下的数据中心的构架,也就是下一代数据中心;二是他展示了一个新玩意儿,Si波导和polymer波导耦合。这个玩意儿就是报到1中说的东西。其他内容他的同事以前讲过。 我查阅了下今年OFC,报道1中说的东西来自于OFC上Bert J. Offrein的一个邀请报告: W3A.4 • 14:00 Invited Silicon Photonics for the Data Center, Bert J. Offrein1; 1IBM Research GmbH, Switzerland. To fully benefit from silicon photonics technology at the system-level, novel electro-optical assembly techniques are required enabling a close integration with the processor or switch chip. Offrein也就是报道1中的人物2,去年在柏林一个光互连的会议上“1st Optical Interconnect in Data Centers Symposium”我听过他的报告,下个礼拜他要来我们这里绿色光子学的论坛上报告,估计他还要讲那些。打下广告,感兴趣的可以看下 http://green-photonics-symposium.com/ ,这是我老板和以色列理工一个教授组织的一个symposium,去年在海法开的,今年在TU Berlin开,免费注册,免费听,不管饭。请的人都是学术界和工业界的大牛,IBM每年必来。 那个Si波导和Polymer波导亲密接触,让IBM的路线图从“Optical fibers across the boards”跨到了“Optical waveguides in/on boards”(关注IBM光互连技术路线图的就知道这是啥玩意儿),再下一步就是“Optical interconnects integrated with the processor”,也就是片上光互连,全光芯片。 报道2的“随着近日IBM宣布已成功研制出实用化的硅光学芯片,这项已有二十年发展历史的技术重新泛起日出般的光芒”其实并不准确,我不知道其所说的“硅光学芯片”是什么东西,至少和了解的和听到的报告相差十万八千里,好吧,我下周再仔细听听Bert J. Offrein的报告确认下。 最后我以有限的知识纠正下很多人(包括一些自称做光互连的人)的错误说法: 采用光互连技术取代电互连技术,不是光子的速度比电子的速度快;光是电磁波,电互连技术传输的也是电磁波,不是电子,所以信号的传播速度是一样的。只是光互连的带宽比电互连带宽要大,而且损耗小,功耗低,传输距离远,没有串扰,体积也小。 不相信我的话,可以自己去查找资料。 最后来一张德国猪肘,吃得快吐了,量特大,吃了一半打包回家:
还有不到40小时,2013年就要过去了。在过去的一年里忙忙碌碌,很少静下来总结下自己的研究工作。上半年主要是集中精力写各种基金的申请书,做实验的时间被占用了不少。而下半年做实验的时间倒是增加了不少,但精力又被几篇修改的论文分去了一部分。 现在回头看看今年的一些科研工作,能够拿出来的也就下面三个工作: 1、采用低压空气电弧放电法成功实现了单壁、双壁、多壁碳纳米管的制备,尤其是双壁、多壁碳纳米管的宏量制备。单壁碳纳米管的大量制备还有一点难度,这将是2014年的重点科研课题。 2、采用热注射法制备了一系列无机量子点/石墨烯杂化物材料,初步研究了这些杂化材料的光电响应特性。正在投递和发表了若干篇相关的论文。这为我的碳纳米材料研究提供了新的应用方向。 3、将电弧放电法制备碳纳米管所产生的超细碳颗粒(副产物)进行分选,并以此为原料制备出碳量子点,详细研究了制备过程中反应温度、时间对碳量子点尺寸、光致发光特性的影响。研究证实了这种碳量子点具有很好地荧光上转换特性。 在过去的一年里以第1作者分别在Nanoscale、Mater. Res. Bull.上发表SCI论文3篇,以第2作者分别在Nanotechnology、Carbon、Mater. Lett.等国际SCI期刊上发表学术论文4篇。以第1发明人身份申请发明专利1项。另外有2项发明专利获得授权。另外,今年申请的几个基金中仅中了上海市自然基金,国家的青年基金评价为1A3B,会评没有通过。这使得我2014年申请基金的压力陡增!准备1月份把手头的工作暂且缓一下,全力准备基金申请。 2014年规划 基于2013年的科研状况,我2014年的重要工作也基本明确了,也就这么几点: 1、申请国家自然基金青年基金和教育部新教师基金 2、深入研究低压空气法大量制备单壁碳纳米管; 3、继续碳纳米材料及其应用研究; 4、适当提高论文发表档次。 2014年即将到来,希望我的2014能够一切顺利! 1. W***EFRONT CONTROL WITH REALISTIC SPATIAL LIGHT MODULATOR IN A MULTI-APERTURE IMAGER Thesis Submitted to The School of Engineering of the UNIVERSITY OF DAYTON In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for The Degree of Master of Science in Electro-Optics 共124页。 摘要: A multi-aperture imaging system with a non-mechanical steering device replacing each lens sub-aperture was considered. This setup allows for focusing and tracking of a target over a fine angle while preserving high resolution imaging in a compact system. An imaging system has the ability to digitally add focus for receiving. However, in the case of transmitting the focus must be provided by optical components. Even when receiving, at a short enough range it might be necessary to introduce optical corrections to avoid phase aliasing. To this end, the effects of implementing a real device such as the BNS Spatial Light Modulator (SLM), a reflective 512x512 pixels with 83.4% area fill factor steering device, on the multi aperture imaging system were investigated. The pixelated phase of the SLM, and the use of 2π resets to provide stepped blazed phase profiles for steering and stepped quadratic phase focusing, are modeled. Each pixel of the SLM is modeled by an array of 10x10 elements with 9 active and 1 inactive in both the x and y direction. As expected, and shown by the simulation results, the periodic reset of the quadratic phase bowl introduced phase grating modulations, which produces the so call “ghost image” around the center image. By only providing stepped blazed profile to steer, the simulation shows that with increasing phase steps within the blazed profile the diffraction efficiency increase but at the cost of decreased steering angles. The ability of the SLM to correct for aberrations and its limitation in correcting aberration is investigated. SIGNAL TO NOISE RATIO EFFECTS ON APERTURE SYNTHESIS FOR DIGITAL HOLOGRAPHIC LADAR Thesis Submitted to The School of Engineering of the UNIVERSITY OF DAYTON In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for The Degree of Master of Sciences in Electro-Optical Engineering 共117页。 摘要: The cross-range resolution of a laser radar (ladar) system can be improved by synthesizing a large aperture from multiple smaller sub-apertures. This aperture synthesis requires a coherent combination of the sub-apertures; that is, the sub-apertures must be properly phased and placed with respect to each other. One method that has been demonstrated in the literature to coherently combine the sub-apertures is to cross-correlate the speckle patterns imaged in overlapping regions. This work investigates the effect of low signal to noise ratio (SNR) on an efficient speckle cross-correlation registration algorithm with sub-pixel accuracy. Specifically, the algorithms ability to estimate relative piston and tilt errors between sub-apertures at low signal levels is modeled and measured. The effects of these errors on image quality are examined using the modulation transfer function (MTF) as a metric. The results demonstrate that in the shot noise limit, with signal levels as low as about 0.02 signal photoelectrons per pixel in a typical CCD, the registration algorithm estimates relative piston and tilt accurately to within 0.1 radians of true piston and 0.1 waves of true tilt. If the sub-apertures are not accurately aligned in the synthetic aperture, then the image quality degrades as the number of sub-apertures increases.
