I will give a talk at the Fifth International Workshop DICE2010 : Space-Time-Matter - Current issues in quantum mechanics and beyond. Following DICE2002, DICE2004, DICE2006, and DICE2008, this interdisciplinary workshop addresses researchers in the fields of fundamental interactions, cosmology, general relativity, and quantum theory. DICE2010 will focus on these topics: * Decoherence, quantum-to-classical transition, measurement problem * Quantum coherent processes in biology * Key experiments * Emergent spacetime, matter, and symmetries * Quantum gravity / cosmology and high-energy physics My talk is Quantum collapse and preferred Lorentz frame . Abstract: It has been argued that a consistent description of quantum collapse demands the existence of a preferred Lorentz frame or an absolute frame. In this paper, we show that some dynamical collapse models provide a method to detect the preferred Lorentz frame. According to these models, the collapse time of the wave function relates to the velocity of the experimental frame relative to a preferred Lorentz frame. As a result, the preferred Lorentz frame can be detected by measuring the collapse time of the wave function. If quantum collapse is really relevant to the Planck scale, as Feynman conceived, then our result may be universally valid. Tim Maudlin, Quantum Non-Locality and Relativity: Metaphysical Intimations of Modern Physics (2nd ed.).
