ISI中更正作者错误等信息

SCI论文命中率调查

首先声明,俺不是什么牛人,所以是发牛paper的牛人请绕道,这里说的和你无关。从读研究生到现在工作,大大小小也发了几篇文章,在这里简单做个总结。希望和我方向相同的,愿意比较的也来参考下。 截至目前,我已经接受或者发表文章的杂志有以下几个:Journal of zoology,journal of mammalogy,journal of wildlife management,behavioural processes,Transportation research part D,Plos one,下面按顺序来算一下拒稿率。 Journal of zoology:发表2篇,投稿过5次,命中率40%; journal of mammalogy:发表1篇,投稿过2次,命中率50%; journal of wildlife management:发表1篇,投稿过3次,命中率33%; behavioural processes:发表1篇,投过3次,命中率33%; TRD:发表2篇,投过2次,命中率100%; Plos one:初步接受1篇,投过1次,命中率100%。 就已经发表的几篇文章而言,总体命中率似乎还不错,正好50%。不过,其实这些文章在接受之前还曾投过其他一些杂志,比如BES,Ethology等,如果加入这些尚未中过的杂志,命中率应该不过3成。从拒稿的层次上而言,以一周之内编辑直接拒掉的为多;送审后拒掉的不多,也就是说如果送审并返修,基本上就接受了。 此外,有老外合作的几篇稿子,基本上都是一投即中,一方面是人家的英语地道,另一方面,人家的讨论也确实深入。 PS:这两天投文章被据晕了头了,所以把先前的经验整理整理。希望后面的能顺利些,或者,我再变麻木些也行,呵呵。不过,说到底,文章要过硬,文献支撑必须要坚实,文章必须要有新意。多看文献,而且要在实验前就掌握主要动态,方才是发文章的要义。

ISI Web of Science 4.1版与5.3版引文报告有差异
Thomson Reuters/ISI最近刚刚正式发布了Web of Science 5.3版。也许已经有同行注意到通过5.3版查询某本特定期刊的引文报告,具体的引用数量可能与4.1版的查询结果有所差异。如下图: 5.3版引文报告: 4.1版引文报告: 这主要是因为 ISI 改变了引用年份的分配方法。在 4.1 版 中,他们是根据文献被索引( indexing )的年份来确定该引用的年份,而在 5.3 版中,是根据文献的出版年来确定引用年份。比如说, A 刊 2010 年 12 月这一期在 2011 年 1 月才被索引至 ISI Web of Science 数据库中, A 刊这一期对 B 刊有引用。那么根据 4.1 版,这些对 B 刊的引用是被当成 2011 年度的引用,而根据 5.3 版,这些对 B 刊的引用是被当成 2010 年度的引用。当某些刊的 1 月号被提前至前一年度的 12 月或更早出版时,也会导致这种差异。 2011 年初 因为 ISI 要对系统进行升级,导致有不少期刊 2010 出版的内容直到 2011 年才被索引至数据库中,所以对有些刊来说, 4.1 版和 5.3 版的引用报告结果可能会有较大的差异。 不过,这种改进还是有些道理的,至少,你可以更准确地预测某本期刊的影响因子了。

概述 ISI Web of Knowledge 是一个基于 Web 的集成平台,提供高质量的内容及用于访问、分析和管理研究信息的工具。这些工具包括: 跨库检索 我的 EndNote Web 我的引文跟踪 我的期刊列表 我已保存的检索 显示/管理标记结果列表 打印、通过电子邮件发送、导出和保存题录信息 全文链接 为了更好地使用ISI中的所有功能,先进行注册,并且每次进行检索之前都先登录帐户。 选择数据库 出现的为所在机构已订阅的数据库,如科院订购了如下数据库: web of science 中的七个数据库: 三个引文数据库包含文献作者引用的参考文献。您可以使用这些参考文献进行被引参考文献检索。通过这种类型的检索,您可以查找引用以前发表的著作的文献。 Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI-Expanded) Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI) Arts Humanities Citation Index (AHCI) 这两个会议录文献引文数据库包括多种学科的最重要会议、讨论会、研讨会、学术会、专题学术讨论会和大型会议的出版文献。使用这两个数据库,您可以在期刊文献尚未记载相关内容之前,即可跟踪特定学科领域内涌现出来的新概念和新研究。 Conference Proceedings Citation Index - Science (CPCI-S) Conference Proceedings Citation Index - Social Sciences Humanities (CPCI-SSH) 使用这两个化学数学库可以创建化学结构图以查找化合物和化学反应。也可以检索这些数据库来查找化合物和反应数据。 Index Chemicus (IC) Current Chemical Reactions (CCR-Expanded) 以及 Current Contents Connect Derwent Innovations Index Biological Abstracts BIOSIS Previews CABI: CAB Abstracts and Global Health Food Science and Technology Abstracts (FSTA) Inspec MEDLINE Zoological Record Web Citation Index Journal Citation Reports 拿我自己的专业来举例,我是电气专业(在分类选择里是electrical and electronic engineering),挑选几个具有特殊功能的数据库来作说明: 1.使用Journal Citation Reports来寻找我所在的领域中最常引用的期刊、最具影响力的期刊、最热门的期刊、一流期刊、相关期刊 列出的期刊按影响因子来排序, 但是这样查找的可能不够针对自己的专业方向,因此也可以更加细化地输入检索式,所有数据库搜索得出结果后,选择来源期刊分析检索结果。 note:也可以在选择一种数据库页面来访问这一数据库,这个数据库更像一种提供引文数据比较的工具。 2.使用Conference Proceedings Citation Index - Science 查找会议文献; 使用Derwent Innovations Index查找专利文献; 3.通过web citation index来从与我的研究相关的一流机构中查找、评估和选择合适的 Web 知识库(有时也称为知识仓储,这是与传统的垄断出版相区别的另一种模式,即允许开放获取)。 note:其他数据库详细信息可以在ISI web of knowledge的帮助目录中查询。 所有数据库 (all database search)可使用你所在机构已订阅的全部数据库进行检索 选择一个数据库 (select a database)可以选择单个数据库 输入检索内容后,可选择排序方式(出版日期、引频、第一作者、相关性、来源出版物),精炼检索结果,分析检索结果,输出所选文献信息(包括作者、标题、摘要、来源出版物) 保存检索历史 首先要求登录,在保存检索历史页面,在历史名称字段中输入名称(不带文件扩展名)。该名称可以是单个单词或短语。 在说明字段中输入说明。(此步骤为可选项。)单击保存按钮。 当服务器保存确认页面通知您历史已保存时,请单击完成完成此过程。 或者可以保存到自己的机器上。 跟踪检索历史 如果所在机构订阅了跟踪服务,您可以将检索历史另存为一项跟踪服务。跟踪服务自动检索数据库的最新更新,然后通过电子邮件将所有相关结果发送给您。 note:跨库检索不可跟踪。 我的被引文献列表 创建引文跟踪 访问您要添加文献的全记录。您可以在产品数据库中单击检索结果页面中的文献题名来进行此操作。 在全记录页面上,单击创建引文跟踪按钮,转至引文跟踪保存确认页面。 单击完成返回到全记录页面。 修改设置 从我的被引文献列表,单击修改设置按钮,转至修改设置页面。 要应用设置,请选择相应栏中的复选框。要删除设置,请清除复选框。 单击提交更改以确认更改。 向我发送引文跟踪 当选定复选框后,该文章的引文跟踪即激活。 引文跟踪设置 指定接受电子邮件的电子邮件地址(默认值是您的登录电子邮件地址)和 电子邮件格式 。 从列表中删除 从列表中删除文章。要清除整个列表,请单击全选。 note:我的期刊列表使用方法与之类似。

声明——外商合作并没有使中国期刊划出中国

今天看到我所敬重的任胜利老师的博文透视2009年度中国大陆SCI期刊 其中第二条如下: (2)2009年度的JCR中计有114份期刊划归于PRChina,与JCR-2008相比,有更多的期刊因为与国外出版商合作而划出中国: ActaPharmacologicaSinica(IF:1.783,美国); AsianJournalofAndrology(IF:1.688,美国); JournalofSystemsScienceComplexity(IF:0.586,美国); ActaMathematicaeApplicataeSinica-EnglishSeries(IF:0.315,德国); BiomedicalandEnvironmentalSciences(IF:0.669,英国)。 看了上述描述,我非常揪心,非常着急,马上就在任老师博客下留言,希望他更正。不过我觉得还是有必要来澄清一下这个情况,正好今天我申请的开博功能获批了,所以这个澄清文,也就成了我的科学网第一文。 6月18日IF出来后,我就发现了这个问题,并且我们第一时间和Nature出版集团和ISI进行了接洽。我们跟Nature出版集团合作,并没有把版权卖给对方,只是合作出版。向ISI提交更新出版商信息时,也从未表示更改国籍之类。估计是NPG太出名了,ISI想当然就将我们的刊物都划归到了NPG名下,所以我们也就不小心成了一本美国刊物。 6月23日,我们收到NPG的回复,表示这是一个错误,一个ThomsonISI犯的错误(MyapologiesforthiserrormadebyThomsonISI),NPG表示会立刻联系ISI(IhaverequestedthechangewithISIsoIwillletyouknowwhenIhearbackfromthem. 6月25日,NPG表示ISI已经回复将在一个月左右更改错误信息(ISIhaveconfirmedthattheywillmakethischange.However,theyhavealsosaidthatitcouldtakeamonthormorebeforethechangeisreflectedintheirMasterJournalList(http://science.thomsonreuters.com/mjl/). 由于我们无力去支配Thomson公司的行为,尽管一个月时间有点长,但目前除了等待,我们不能做什么。相信再过一个月左右,大家再次去检索,就可以看到这还是中国的刊物。 以上是这个2009年影响因子历史上的插曲事件,跟大家相比,我更加心痛这样的尴尬情况,唯有在此澄清,当然我所声明的情况仅代表AsianJournalofAndrology《亚洲男性学杂志》。另外据我所知ActaPharmacologicaSinica也是同类情况,至于其他三刊,我不清楚具体情况。 对了,还望了自我说明,我是AsianJournalofAndrology的编辑。

朋友今晚问道这个事情,给她回复邮件解答后,顺便发到这里。 另赞一下ACS,不愧为化学领域做的最好的数据库,哪方面都很好。 ====================== 唯一的方法是找到这篇文章在他所在数据库中 的地址,然后在导出其文献信息(Export citation)时,选择 Citation and references for the content below 我刚看了一下,ACS支持,elsevier和ISI不支持。 详情见附件。

ISI Web of Knowledge的一个小变化

今天在WOS做例行的检索时,发现在检索结果下面多了个小小的按钮,位置在全文按钮之前。点开后,是国科图的e链针对每条记录的链接服务。 由于每条检索结果下都有e链按钮,不是像全文按钮那样只有能够链接到全文的才有,让人感觉国科图真是太强大。其实不然。只有部分期刊会在e链页面上进一步提供全文的链接,但经常还是无效,打不开。许多期刊只提供了过馆藏目录的链接,包括大名鼎鼎的WIley出版社的期刊,如Journal of Polymer Science,和Springer的Chinese Journal of Polymer Science。 WOS收录的中文期刊,如化学进展,提供了维普和CNKI的全文服务的可能链接。可是进一步点开后,维普提示:我们暂时没有电子版;CNKI只收录化学进展到2010的第1期。而WOS已收录了第2/3期,网上已有了第4期。这只能怪国内全文数据库更新的缓慢了。 e链也许是好东西,可能功能和数据正在进一步的完善之中。 PS:ISI往往会根据不同的用户提供不同的服务。如果中科院外的用户没有发现上述的e链按钮,原谅则个。

多研究些问题,少谈些SCI

时常在各类BBS或Blog上看到诸如“SCI发表秘诀”,“我的SCI论文发表经验”,“SCI期刊有什么要求啊?”之类的贴子,窃以为这种标题甚有误导之嫌。 SCI或ISI只是一种论文索引数据库,它全部收录的期刊数量近万种,几乎涵盖了各个学科,每个学科收录的期刊少则三五种,多达数百种。虽然学术期刊的运行方式没有什么质的不同,但要为这些期刊总结出一个或几个论文发表规律或密诀,对于一个出版界的专家来说也是一件十分困难的事,更不用说只有一篇或几篇论文发表经历的科学研究人员了。当然,此处对分享论文发表经验的同学绝无任何贬低之意。 况且,科学论文的发表真的有什么能使投稿一击必中的密诀吗? 全世界约25000种学术期刊,是不是说被ISI收录的就一定是高质、严谨、有规律可循呢?答案当然是未必。未被ISI收录的优秀期刊也为数不少,这里无法一一列举罢了。就正规的科学期刊而言,我看不出被ISI收录的和未被收录的在投稿或同行评议过程方面有实质性的区别。 ISI所推出的期刊影响因子只是众多科研评价指标之一而已,国内由于科研评估相关正策的导向(或者说压力),使得这个指标在某种程度上讲失去了它本来的意义。关于这个话题已有很多讨论,不再赘述。 另外,这几日在科学网上也看到有同学谈论投稿给西方期刊遭到歧视或讨论是否有歧视的问题。如果讨论SCI论文发表经验还有给后来人以借鉴的意义,那这类关于歧视的话题则是一点意义也没有。首先人之本性决定了歧视在哪里都不可避免,不幸撞上了只能感叹运气不佳,然后该干嘛干嘛。其次,相对而言这样情况只是个案,也没有必要一杆子打死一船人,应该相信正规的学术期刊的审稿过程基本上还是比较公正的。如果投稿被拒,与其为是否被歧视而郁闷,不如多花点时间看看审稿人的意见,找找自己的不足。或者换个角度看,说不定是因为你的研究太先进而暂时无法被现时的同行接受呢。 学术期刊的本质是一个交流平台,期刊的编辑即有权利也有义务来为这个平台选择合适的内容。 要想加入这个平台,多研究些问题,少谈些SCI(或歧视),认真做好自已的功课才是上策。 (致谢:我的朋友胡适之对本文标题有很大贡献。)

俗话说,三句不离本行。本文题目中的这几个英文简称,是学术科技出版界人士们经常讨论的话题之一。国内出版界的同行们也在零星地向国人们介绍,更有专门从事数据统计与信息处理的专家们对其进行剖析和栓释。但近年来,这些出版术语也成为国内不少学者甚至研究生们的口头禅 乃至紧箍咒,倒是很有中国特色。本文无心对国内的有关政策指手划脚,但有意从出版的角度,把这几个概念的来龙去脉在此简要地介绍一下,希望能帮助学者们从正面理解它们在出版范畴内积极的作用,同时也关注它们相关的负面效果。 SCI是科学引文索引(Science Citation Index)的英文简称,旨在显示学术科技论文在发表之后在其他学术科技期刊中的引用情况。谈到科学引文索引(SCI),难免先要说说它的主人,ISI,即科学信息研究所 (Institute For Scientific Information)。该研究所是科学引文索引(SCI)诞生的摇篮,没有科学信息研究所(ISI),也就不会有科学引文索引(SCI)了。但说到科学信息研究所(ISI),就又必然提到它的创始人Eugene (Gene) Garfield博士。Eugene于1925年9月26日生于美国纽约,后于1961年获得宾西法尼亚大学的博士学位, 是文献计量学和科学计量学的创始人之一。他不仅是位才华横溢的科学家,还是一位有头脑和前瞻意识的市场开拓者。他于二十世纪六十年代初创立的科学信息研究所(ISI)便是很好的证明。研究所的成立,不仅发挥了他个人的学术才华,还为其创建的学术理论提供了充分展示的平台,不愧是变知识为财富的典范。据说引发Garfield博士和其同伴这一创举的火花源于Vanevar Bush先生于1945年发表的那篇著名文章 As We May Think ,有兴趣的读者不妨去看看,也许同样能引发奇思异想。 科学引文索引(SCI)收录的科技期刊自1961年后,数量遂年增加。目前收录的期刊从印本到网上期刊,加起来大约有6400 之众。除了科学引文索引(SCI) 以外,还有社会科学引文索引 (Social Sciences Citation Index,简称SSCI,始于1956年)和艺术与人文科学引文索引 (Arts and Humanities Citation Index,简称AHCI,始于1975年) 。这样的发展壮大,一方面反映了市场的需求,另一方面也反映出这几大领域期刊的迅猛发展。但值得一提的是,科学引文索引(SCI)已不再是国际科技信息市场上独领风骚的期刊索引,近年来随着电子出版的日益成熟,已经涌现出不少新秀,比如CiteSeer 和Google Scholar (GS) 等。但它们在国内的声望和影响,目前远不如科学引文索引(SCI)。 由科学信息研究所(ISI)推出的索引系列数据除了常用的科学引文索引(SCI) 以外,还有即得索引 (The Immediacy Index),引用半周期(The Cited Half-Life),和总计影响因子(The Aggregate Impact Factor) 等 。每年承载这些数据的载体便是著名的期刊引用报告 (Journal Citation Reports) ,英文简称为JCR。该报告的出版初衷是通过分析文章被引用的次数和相应的数据统计,定量化的评估国际上相同学科/领域里学术和科技期刊的水平,为同一个学科/领域的不同期刊之间的相互比较提供方便。该报告出版后,逐渐地被学术和研究界接受,广泛地成为评价学术科技期刊的参考标尺,是衡量一本学术期刊是否重要的量化代言人。在50年代后国际学术科技期刊如雨后春笋般地诞生和发展的形势下,该报告的出现的确填补了图书馆管理和信息交流的市场空缺,受到管理者的欢迎。除了它的学术价值外,其商业价值同样令人瞠目。价格不菲的单价,众多的订户,为其经营者带来滚滚红利。仔细分析该报告,有两个特点。其一,它试图以量化的形式把各类期刊的水平数字化,便於比较。但使用的计算方法是否完全科学和公平,至今在部分学者中仍有很大的争论和分歧;其二,报告中的数据,不论从采样(期刊) 还是分析手段,都有不尽人意之处。比如几乎所有引用和被引用的期刊均是英文的,又比如许多文章因为是在商业性的出版物中被引用,便不能算在引用的次数之中。还有,搞出版的人都很清楚,不同领域的期刊虽然有许多共性,但同样存在着异性,统统按一个数据来衡量,难免有点过於简单化。国际上许多学者认为,该报告最好用来提供科学的参考意见,不适宜用来当做衡量所有期刊高低上下的绝对准绳。 期刊引用报告 (JCR)的卖点之一便是刊物的影响因子 (Impact Factor,简称IF 或JIF (Journal Impact Factor)) 。它是由刊物两年内发表的全部文章的被引用情况决定的。简单地说,如果一本科技期刊两年内发表的全部文章在第三年内都被引用过一次,则该期刊该年度(第三年)的影响因子即为1。不尽人意的是,因为两年内的引用数据要在第三年才进入计算程序,加上数据的收集以年为单位,故等到影响因子(IF)在期刊引用报告(JCR)中发表时,已经是第四个年头了。对新创刊的期刊显得尤为尴尬。它们头两年发表的文章,虽然有的马上被其他文章/期刊引用了,但在报告里,该刊物的影响因子在创刊后的两年里只能标明为零。如此令人费解的地方还不少,同样也是引发争议的原因。 在此背景下,又涌现出另一种影响因子,叫PAGERANK。它与科学引文索引(SCI)的影响因子的计算过程大致相似,但在数据处理过程中对影响广泛的重量级期刊和相对弱势的期刊区别对待。按这两种不同的影响因子产生的期刊排行榜,在同一年是不同的。以2006年为例,按科学引文索引(SCI)的影响因子(IF)排序,自然和科学分列第6和第8位;若按PAGERANK的结果排序,自然和科学分别为排行榜的状元和探花,该结果似乎更贴近现实中大部分学者的感觉。如果按两者结合的影响因子(Combined Impact Factor) 排行,榜上有名的前10位期刊和影响因子分别是:NATURE (51.97), SCIENCE (48.78), NEW ENGLAND JOURNAL OF MEDICINE (19.84), CELL (15.34), PNAS (14.88), JOURNAL OF BIOLOGICAL CHEMISTRY(10.62), JAMA (8.49), THE LANCET (7.78), NAT GENET (7.56), 和NATURE MEDICINE (6.53) 。从这个排序我们可以看到两个既有趣又同样令人深思的现象。其一,从第一到第十名,结合影响因子的数值相差45分之巨,换句话说,第十名只是第一名的近十分之一;其二,被科学引文索引(SCI)收录的期刊有几千本之多,除了这10本期刊,其它的云云众刊的结合影响因子在2006年都低于6.53,而且低于2甚至1的大有人(刊)在。 通过以上的介绍不难看出,不论是ISI,SCI,JCR,还是IF(JIF),都与试图分析和衡量学术科技期刊有关,目的主要是在众多的期刊之间,找到一个量化的平台进行相互间的比较,为信息管理和读者阅读提供一个简单易懂的参考标准。这个标准不是万能的,更不是放之四海而皆准的。不同的领域,不同的年份,不同的刊物,因为发表文章的不同,因为出版周期的不同,因为文章引用方式的不同,其引用量会有很大的出入。以单一的定点定量的概念来绝对地考量期刊的价值或级别,在出版和研究范畴,均没有太大的实际意义。换个角度说,如果把这样一个衡量学术科技期刊的参考系数,变为考量作者甚至研究单位业绩或政纪的绝对标准,决非其创立者的初衷,恐怕也不是其用武之地。 总之,不论是Eugene (Gene) Garfield博士创办的信息研究所(ISI,如今已经并入国际出版巨头之一的Thomson Scientific集团),还是他推出的期刊引用报告(JCR) ;不论是科学引文索引(SCI),还是期刊的影响因子(IF/JIF) ,对二十世纪中叶以后的信息和科技研究,尤其对数据统计与分析应用领域,做出了很大的贡献。但同时不可否认的是,作为出版品牌,其商业价值更是巨大的。从客观的角度分析,该品牌近年来在新的经营者的管理下,正在做更进一步的产品开发和市场扩充。而对用户们而言,要充分利用该产品提供的信息服务,为己所用,而不是被其左右。否则,在教学科研等运作中引发的负面效果,将不仅是商品本身的遗憾,而且更是使用者自身的悲哀。
