小宇宙爆发:本小组获得三星 GRO 项目奖! 刚刚登陆三星 GRO 网站( http://www.sait.samsung.co.kr/eng/GROhome/gromain.jsp ),发现本小组的项目赫然在列,不仅内心一阵狂喜!难道真是人品爆发啦?! Energy Enhancing Bandwidth of PEH via a Flexible Structure Coupled with Magnetic Field Auburn University Low-frequency Ultra-wide Bandwidth Piezoelectric Energy Harvester Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University Design, Simulation and Fabrication of A Spiral-Shaped Multi-mass PVDF Cantilever Peking University Heterogeneous Layered Structured Materials for High Energy and Power Density of Lithium Battery University of Michigan 平静下来,仔细想想,这个项目的获得还是很有些东西值得玩味,首先,这是一个很开放的项目,设定了一些题目和范围但是没有具体的要求,发布到全世界,大家仁者见仁、智者见智都可以提出自己的解决方案,我们感兴趣是因为今年其中的一个题目(压电能量采集)跟目前我们做的内容很相近,有一定的研究基础,而它提出的问题也是我们急需解决的问题和难题,为什么不试试?我看到项目征集通知后就立即召集学生开会,讨论可能的解决方案,因为很有难度,所以当时大家争论的很激烈,基本采取思路要我们研究基础相一致的路线,不可能一下子转到其他不熟悉的方面去,更何况我们前面积累的基础还是很好的。 接下来,那就是要怎样解决这些瓶颈问题,哪个方案有希望解决这个问题而且可行?我们只能看到山顶上的目标,可是没有路,必须自己找路,能借助的就是自己所知道和拥有的镰刀斧头(做前面项目中已经掌握的方法),尽管这个队伍里有博士生、硕士生还有本科毕业设计的学生,可是面对这个挑战,大家都很兴奋、不分彼此、各显神通,我们在纸上画草图、争论,那叫一个意气风发!也是真的头脑风暴,每个人的小宇宙开始爆发!这样激烈的讨论下来,一个初步的结构出来了,各自回去做自己能做的工作并查找资料,下次再讨论的时候就拿着计算的结果来了,还行,这个新颖的结构设计终于得到了大家的一致认同,可是加工方法比较难,我们没有条件,我说我们先做个基本的试验试试吧,正好刚认识的一位老师是做这方面的,我就给他打电话说:“老兄,你知不知道哪里可以做 ***** 事?”也是凑巧,他说:“一个专门做这事的就在我这里呢,你跟他说!”就这样,学生立即就送样品过去,对方第二天就给我们拿回来了结果,很不错,可行!当然接下来就做了一系列的计算和基础试验,我们的申请书也就基本成型了!由于是英文的申请书,还需要多加些功夫,反复地讨论和修改了几次,终于按时提交了上去(一个本科设计的学生负责搞定的,他现在读我的直博)! 很好,我们第一次正式独立申请国际项目之旅就这样顺利起航了!这次申请,我是抱着锻炼队伍的心态,给自己一次机会去的,所以也无所谓抱多大希望。就接着忙活别的去了。 7 月下旬的时候接到三星中国的一个来信:“项目初评结果出来了, 总部对您的 GRO 的项目的疑惑在您提的 energy harvester 的材料和结构与目前我们总部的研究兴趣不是特别吻合,所以希望您能写一段文字来说明一下您的 proposal 进行的必要性和创新性,也算是写一个简短的 defense 吧,希望能够改变总部的想法。”真的,看来我们的项目方案还有有一定的吸引力的, defense 怕什么?正好是我们证明自己的机会,于是就和学生商量了下,写了简明扼要的一个 defense 发了过去,不免暗自有些激动,心中开始有所期待! 没想到,今天再看网站,哈哈,原来我们的 defense 真的打动了评委!我们获得了资助,这可是我们小组获得的第一笔从国外研究机构来的经费呀!格外兴奋,也要格外珍惜这个机会,因为,看看那个获奖名单上列的高校吧:哈佛、斯坦福、牛津、 MIT 、 UCBerkeley 、 U. Michigan…… 都是顶尖的团队呀,现在是方案 PK ,我们靠着团队的智慧和头脑风暴赢下了这一阵,可是明年就是结果 PK 啦,那时候,如果做得不够好,会死的很难看的!所以,亲爱的同学们,从今天起,我们必须开足马力、全力以赴,告诉自己:必须做出个样子来,让我们的小宇宙在这个项目的激励下开始爆发,向世界展现我们的才华! 三星 GRO 项目简介:从 2009 年 起,为鼓励在通讯、能源、生物等热点领域的探索与创新,三星公司设立了 Global Research Outreach ( GRO )项目,每年会向世界各顶尖学府征集创新性的研究方案,三星公司会选择最具创新性的方案对当前热点问题进行研究,并与相关学院或大学建立合作机制。在严格评审申请项目的创新性、科学性以及社会影响力之后,三星公司会对接收其中较为突出的研究方案并给予资助,资助金额从 5 万美金到 10 万美金不等。 2012 年 GRO 项目包括生物医疗、计算科学、通信、能源、图像传感、新型材料、存储技术、片上系统、电力电子等 15 个领域,共有 71 个研究主题。在经过提交申请、项目初审、终审等环节后,在国际范围内共有来自 MIT 、 UCBerkeley 、哈佛大学、牛津大学、斯坦福大学等世界各地研究院所的 82 个项目得到奖励资助,中国大陆地区共有 3
