GROWTH Medium: Digital drawing on photo Artist: Melody Avis ’14 “Growth” is one of the more experimental pieces from a series of self portraits I created last year, in which I mixed the medium of digital photography with digital drawing. I chose to explore the theme of nature because I have always been attracted to plants and fairy tale imagery. In our culture, death is a taboo subject that most people try to ignore. In this image, I wanted to explore the cycle of life and death, and represent the beauty of life as well as the beauty of death.
