[转载]Top 20 R packages by popularity
tjumsh 2015-7-2 20:19
The CRAN Package repository features 6778 active packages. Which of these should you know? Here is an analysis of the daily download logs of the CRAN mirror from Jan-May 2015. See a link to full data at the bottom of the post. Most of these R packages are favorites of Kagglers, endorsed by many authors, rated based on one package's dependency on other packages, some of them gained mentions on Quora and on various R blogs. They are also rated reviewed by users as a crowdsourced solution by Crantastic.org . We also present the CRANtastic rating of few packages here only to represent that it is gaining popularity. However, some of these packages have user ratings that are too few to be based on for analysis and hence, for these we omitted the ratings. Let us explore the list based on the number of downloads! Rcpp Seamless R and C++ Integration (693288 downloads, 3.2/5 by 10 users) ggplot2 An Implementation of the Grammar of Graphics (598484 downloads, 4.0/5 by 82 users) stringr Simple, Consistent Wrappers for Common String Operations. Umbrella of American palaeobotany-1: 美国古植物学之伞 An unfinished list of American palaeobotanists 《古植物学的故事》 Story of Paeobotany Series (228) 《美国古植物学之伞》 Umbrella of American Palaeobotany(1) Since mid-19 th century American palaeobotany has gone through rapid development, and played more and more important role in the promotion of world palaeobotany. It is fact that many museums of natural history in the States have been constructed to serve as solid platforms for American palaeobotany, which provide labs for palaeobotanists, post-docs and students, and are open to so many visitors from all over the world. A long but unfished list of American palaeobotanists is made so as to reconstruct an umbrella of American palaeobotany pertaining to the different lineages with emphasis on the world connections , which are in fact made up of an intricately and vividly web-like scheme. If you have found your name and other American palaeobotanists' names missing here, please let me know, thanks. He hasdescribed much of the early microbial life that represents two-thirds of theEarth's history, and he has led efforts to elucidate the evolution of chemicalsystems and their organization into living organisms. Through his collaborativeefforts, he has largely defined the entire science. -------------------- 15. Hayes, John M. Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution Election Year: 1998 NAS Section: Geology Status: Member Research/Expertise: biogeochemistry, isotopes, geomicrobiology, carbon cycle,evolution Citation Hayesis a geologist who has made important contributions to our understanding of theEarth's carbon cycle. He has demonstrated the importance of methanogenicbacteria in ancient ecosystems, discovered the large fluctuations in theisotopic composition of carbon in seawater just before the Cambrianevolutionary explosion, and pioneered exploitation of the isotopic compositionof biomarkers in such studies. --------------------- 16. python中的list用法简单小结
a6657266 2013-7-9 22:43
参考http://docs.python.org/2/tutorial/datastructures.html#SECTION007110000000000000000 li = li.extend( ) li li 'f' li.append( ) li ] li.insert(i,x) 在标号为i的元素处添加list x li.remove(x)删除list x从li li.pop( ): 如果i缺省则删除list最后一个元素,如果不赋值,则删除标号为i的元素,这里' print a . count ( 333 ), a . count ( 66.25 ), a . count ( 'x' ) 2 1 0 a . insert ( 2 , - 1 ) a . append ( 333 ) a a . index ( 333 ) 1 a . remove ( 333 ) a a . reverse () a a . sort () a list用成栈----先进后出 li.append li.pop list用成队列 要用collections.deque---先进先出 from collections import deque queue = deque ( ) queue . append ( Terry ) # Terry arrives queue . append ( Graham ) # Graham arrives queue . popleft () # The first to arrive now leaves 'Eric' queue . popleft () # The second to arrive now leaves 'John' queue # Remaining queue in order of arrival deque( ) 当使用list时,有最重要的三个函数:filter(), map() 以及 reduce() filter(function, sequence) e.g. def f ( x ): return x % 2 != 0 and x % 3 != 0 ... filter ( f , range ( 2 , 25 )) filter函数适用于逻辑函数,返回的是在range范围内,即2-24(包含)中使得f函数为真的值 map(function,sequence) e.g. def cube ( x ): return x * x * x ... map ( cube , range ( 1 , 11 )) map函数适用于对list整个处理,如果输入参数是两个变量的话,可以用map(cube,range1,range2) reduce(function,sequence) e.g. def add ( x , y ): return x + y ... reduce ( add , range ( 1 , 11 )) 55 reduce函数返回的是一个值,通过函数add调用sequence的前两个值,计算得到的结果作为输入,再继续调用下一个值,适用于求累加或者累积 链表推导 e.g.1 squares = e.g.2 for y in if x != y ] e.g.3 vec = , , ] e.g.4 matrix = , ... , ... , ...] for row in matrix ] for i in range ( 4 )] , , , ] 与 zip ( * matrix ) 等同

Don't trust email...
zuojun 2012-5-21 15:53
I decided that I needed a break from the "never-ending" project on OMZs (oxygen minimum zones). So, I went to China for a four-week tour of four different labs/departments. After I left for China, the PI sent out the latest version of the manuscript for all co-authors to read. I was busy, and didn't check the email carefully. Time went by, and I am back, to finish the paper. Somehow, I felt something was missing. So, I checked the PI's email, and discovered that one co-author was "dropped" from the mailing list. OMG! I used to laugh at such email: "Please let me know if you do not receive this email." Well, I will not laugh again, but I will say: "Please reply to confirm you have received this email."

Black-list an author
热度 1 zuojun 2011-7-23 07:16
Do you have a black list of names? I knew a journal black-listed some reviewers who never did their duty on time or worse, never returned their reviews. Well, I am putting one author on my black list of names that I will not deal with. I edited his manuscript once, which was a pain in the neck because he came from a country where English is one of the official languages. So, in that sense he is a native speaker, and I am NOT. When the manuscript was sent back to me for another round of editing by his adviser, I refused: What is the point to edit it again when many of my editing suggestions were rejected. Let's not waste your money and my precious time! Now, the paper is accepted, and the adviser asked me to edit it one more time. What a PAIN! So many careless mistakes and typos. Some sentences make no bloody sense! I wish I could say NO to this client (the adviser), but he is also a friend of mine. God, where are you? Please give me strength to finish this painful job!

- The Great Wall the Forbidden City. - Potala palace Tibet - Grand Canyon, Bryce, Zion, Arches - Denali Kenai, Alaska - The Alaska marine highway - Niagara Falls foliage of Maine New England - Yellowstone Teton - Canadian Rockies - Volcano Park, Hawaii - Sierra Nevada, California - The Great Smoky mountains - Swiss Alps - French Alps Southern France - Chinese antiquities in Xi'an - Tibetan regions of Sichuan - Ethnic regions in Yunan - Hayia Sofia, Ottoman relics in Istanbul - Machu Picchu Inca ruins, Lake Titicaca - Mayan ruins - The yellow mountain Ming residences of An Hui - Venice, Italy - Bavarian Germany - Sintra Lisboa, Portugal - Angkor, Cambodia - Jogia temples, Indonesia - Fall foliage, Kyoto Japanese Alps - Catalonia/Costa Brava, Spain TO DO - Patagonia fjords(Chile) - Argentina / Antarctica - Queen Charlotte Island, Canada - Spice Island, Tanzania - African safari, Kenya - Egypt - Petra, Jordan - Jerusalem - Iran - India - Sri Lanka - Bagan, Myanmar - Nordic countries, fjords aurora - Croatia/Italy - Aegean Isles - Algeria Morocco - Antiquities ruins in Syria Iraq - Easter island - South Island, New Zealand - Silk road and southern Xinjiang - Buddhist caves of Shanxi

Introducing Microsoft Word “Thesaurus”
zuojun 2010-8-6 09:52
In the ribbon of a Word file (2007 Edition) , which starts from Home and ends with View, the last but one is Review. Click that, and you will see Thesaurus in the middle of the 2nd column. Use it often, NOT to search for a fancy word, but a more scientific word when you need to write: We got the data from Type in thesaurus (or get) in a Word file, and highlight it before clicking Thesaurus in the ribbon, you will see to the right of your Word file: lexicon vocabulary glossary phrase book word list

信息来源: Ubuntu_Wikipedia The Ubuntu project makes two releases per year, using the year and month of the release as the version number . The first Ubuntu release, for example, was Ubuntu 4.10 and was released on October 20, 2004. Consequently, version numbers for future versions are provisional; if the release is delayed until a different month to that planned, the version number changes accordingly. Ubuntu releases are also given code names , using an adjective and an animal with the same first letter e.g: Dapper Drake and Intrepid Ibex . With the exception of the first two releases, code names are in alphabetical order, allowing a quick determination of which release is newer. Commonly, Ubuntu releases are referred to using only the adjective portion of the code name. Releases are timed to be approximately one month after GNOME releases, which are in turn about one month after releases of X.org . Consequently, every Ubuntu release comes with a newer version of both GNOME and X. Release 6.06 ( Dapper Drake )and recently 8.04 ( Hardy Heron )have been labeled as a Long Term Support (LTS) , to indicate support with updates for three years on the desktop and five years on the server, with paid technical support available from Canonical Ltd. Ubuntu 9.04 Desktop was released on April, 23 2009. It includes the latest enhancements and is maintained until October 2010.
