Acknowledgements
29 years ago, I was born at a small village less than 30 inhabitants currently in north Fujian Province, China. My parents are plain farmers, face to the ground and back to the sky, they are always working hard. Although tough life, they let me live comfortably. Now, as I step into my 30’s age,in the beautiful country of Italy, when all the people are ready to celebrate the Christmas, I finish my PhD thesis. With joy and excitement, I think I should tranquilize for a while and think over some people I would like to appreciate. There are some persons who brought me up and taught me how to be and what to do, they are my parents; there are some persons, who engaged in knowledge spreading, method introducing and problem solving, took me to recognize the world, to explore the unknown world, they are my teachers; There are some persons, who accompanied me when I feel lonely and helpless, whom I shared the happiness and unhappiness with, they are my friends.
I appreciate my parents’ all-the-time support, you are the strong backing. Leaving home from 8-year-old makes me more independently. Cutting firewood, digging bamboo shoots, farming and ploughing land let me experience the hardship of life and then know to cherish the good life we earn now, as well as exercise a good-health body. Sometimes I let you down, you returned me back with total understanding. Thanks for your trust, letting me choose my own life I like. Thank my sister during these 10 years when I studied outside for taking well care of our parents, except for the two young nephews.
I appreciate my supervisors, Prof. Jose Kenny and Dr. Debora Puglia, who invited me and guide me with lots of attention. Being modest and knowledgeable, you taught me lots and lots of. The amazing structure and performance of nanostructured polymer composites, I start to enter and recognize the mysterious microworld. You help me lay a solid foundation for my future career. Thank Prof. Luigi Torre and Dr. Elena Fortunati, who helped and guided me a lot as well during the three year’s PhD study, making my thesis more completed. Thank my collaborators, Prof. Balestra’s group from University of Tuscia and Prof. Visai from University of Pavia of Italy, Prof. Kozanecki’s group from Lodz University of Technology of Poland, and Prof. DeYi Wang’s group from IMDEA Materials Institutes of Spain.
I appreciate all my teachers from the kinder garden to the college, step by step, who inspire me and disseminate intelligence and knowledge.
I appreciate the master thesis supervisor Prof. Qingwen Wang, and Dr.Haigang Wang of Northeast Forestry University, who introduced me to step into the road of scientific exploration, to experience the inner enjoyment, to help achieve my dream to study abroad, tasting the fabulousness outside of China, you are my tutor and friend as well.
I appreciate Prof. DeYi Wang, who recommended and invited me to visit the IMDEA Materials Institutes in Madrid, Spain.
I appreciate my colleagues of the STM group, Marco Rallini, FrancescaLuzi, Alejandro Kenny, Maurizio Natali, Roberto Petrucci, Ivan Puri, Ilalia Armentano, Silvia Bittolo Bon, Manila Chieruzzi, Romina Ceccoloni, Prof. Luca Valentini, Andrea Terenzi, Antonio Iannoni, Samantha Mattioli, who talked, helped and shared with me, making me not fell lonely anymore. I would like to grant the special thanks to Franco Dominici, who always give me selfless help during the three years, from buying the bicycle, renting the apartment, inviting me home to know his friends, to numbers of times of driving travel to enjoy this great country’s art, culture and enthusiasm!
I appreciate the fund support from China Scholarship Council (CSC) for my PhD study. I also appreciate all the people who helped me before, directly or indirectly.
Lastly, I would prefer to appreciate myself, for the strong willness and courage in front of different frustrations and hardship of life. I think in many years, I will also appreciate myself, the guy who is now working hard to pursue a better life. I always believe that: follow excellence, success will chase us silently. My hairs turn white and less, but I earn growth-up and happiness!
