美国诗人Robert Frost的这首the road not taken(未选择的路),让多少人读之为之感慨万分。
有一天,作者来到了一处茂密的黄树林前,前面恰好有两条路,一左一右曲曲折折,蜿蜒消逝在目力所及尽头,向左还是向右!两条同样的路,你不知道前面的路是什么样的路?而就在那个早晨,一个落叶缤纷的早晨,也许还有一层薄薄的霜依旧覆在那落叶和地面上。树林静悄悄、树叶也静悄悄,没有风,也没有人来惊扰过他们。前行!选择!选择一条路就意味着放弃另一条路!
这首诗是作者真实记录他曾经在某一天和他的朋友走在这一黄树林前的经历和感想。今天就用七言再次翻译一遍。

黄树林前岔路停,Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
人生遗憾难两行,And sorry I could not travel both
长久站立四处望,And be one traveler, long I stood
迷茫林雾何处凝,And looked down one as far as I could
小路弯弯无踪影。To where it bent in the undergrowth;
择其另路亦公平,Then took the other, as just as fair
让我道来仔细听:And having perhaps the better claim,
青草小路待人走,Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
若选另路同样过,Though as for that, the passing there
一般磨砺无重轻。Had worn them really about the same,
晨洒朝晖叶两径,And both that morning equally lay
无人走过无人惊,In leaves no step had trodden black
踏上一条缤纷路! Oh, I kept the first for another day!
前路叠嶂曲不平,Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
难再回头另路经。I doubted if I should ever come back.
轻声叹罢往事道,I shall be telling this with a sigh
往昔岁月似浮萍:Somewhere ages and ages hence:
人在旅途岔路口,two roads diverged in a wood, and I --
独择一路少人走,I took the one less traveled by,
人生道路终径庭。And that has made all the difference
