Note that I had always been trying to avoid red meat for health reason most of my life, until my recent blood tests told me I was wrong. My first reaction was that I would eat more meat, which was joking at first. It turned out that is exactly what I am doing now: eat more meat, even red meat. Why? Well, if one does not eat meat protein, one gets hungry easily. So, I used to eat lots of rice and snack on cookies. Once I add some meat to my diet, I no longer need much starch, and can stay away from goodies. Of course, whether I am doing the right thing for my health will only be revealed after my next blood test.

I actually never cooked steaks at home, since I don’t have a grill. However, college students are more resourceful. I learned how to cook steaks using a pan and a toaster oven from my son, and it turned out to be much easier than cooking stir-fry! You rub salt and pepper on both sides of the steak and pan-fried both sides with a little oil. Then, send the steak to the preheated oven for less than 10 mins. Let it cool for a few minutes, and the steak is ready!

Now, I am interested in learning how to choose the right cut. Here is one link that can get you started:
