The film is about Prince Albert, Duke of York later became King George VI of Britain.
The Duke reveals some of the pressures of his childhood: his strict father, the repression of his natural left-handedness, a painful treatment for knock-knees, a nanny who favoured his elder brother, and the early death of his younger brother, Prince John.
