FerrDb is the world's first database that dedicates to ferroptosis regulators and ferroptosis-disease associations. There are two secondary categories of ferroptosis regulators: (1) genes and (2) substances. Gene regulators include driver, suppressor, marker, and unclassified regulator. Substances cover a wide range of chemical entities, including pure substances (e.g., iron, erastin) and mixtures (e.g., herbal extracts). Substance regulators include inducers and inhibitors. On the basis of this philosophy, FerrDb consists of seven independent curated data sets.
Driver
Genes that promote ferroptosis.
Suppressor
Genes that prevent ferroptosis.
Marker
Genes that indicate the occurrence of ferroptosis.
Unclassified regulator
Genes whose role in ferroptosis is unclear.
Inducer
Substances (e.g. compounds, ions, herbal extracts) that can cause ferroptosis.
Inhibitor
Substances (e.g. compounds, ions, herbal extracts) that can restrict ferroptosis.
Ferroptosis-disease association
Associations between ferroptosis and disease.
