Visualization analysis in international epigenetics research

[Abstract] Objective To provide decision-making information support for recogniting research trends,selecting frontier science and technology, shaping reasonable science and reasonable science and technology distribution, a visualization analysis was applied to the international epigenetics research. Methods Based on bibliometric methods and visualization analysis tools,various fields including publication years,countries of publications,journals and organization were analyzed exhaustively on publications of international epigenetics were searched in Science Citation Index Expandationed (SCIE).In addition,details on main subjects,key words were presented in this paper. Results 17112 publications were searched in SCIE since 1974,of which 12538 were published during 2005-2010;Epigenetic publications were growing rapidly since 1990; The production of China is far behind United States of America and UK.Publication were distributed in several different journal type including gene ,molecular and cell biology,biochemistry and oncology;Main subjects were including, basic research,clinical application, medicine development; 2005-2010 hot pins include: acute myeloid-leukemia breast-cancer colorectal-cancer genome embryonic stem-cells chromatin-structure DNA-methylation.Conclusion China should increase the investment in epigenetics,enhance cooperation with other institutions and countries,promote epigenetic research into world top class.

目前表观遗传学(Epigenetics)通常被定义为基因表达通过有丝分裂或减数分裂发生了可遗传的改变, 而 DNA 序列不发生改变[[1]]。表观遗传学又称为实验遗传学、化学遗传学、特异性遗传学、后遗传学、表遗传学和基因外调节系统,它是生命科学中一个普遍而又十分重要的新的研究领域。它不仅对基因表达、调控、遗传有重要作用,而且在肿瘤、免疫等许多疾病的发生和防治中亦具有十分重要的意义。近年来,它在生命科学领域中取得了突破进展,具有十分广泛的研究和应用前景[[2]]。
1.数据收集
Epigenetics OR Epigenetic OR epigenetios OR “Epigenesis Genetic” OR “Genetic Epigenesis” OR “Epigenetic Processes”OR “Processes, Epigenetic” OR “Epigenetics Processes “OR “Epigenetic Process” 等作为主题检索词,检索Web of Science中的SCIE数据库收录的1974年至今的表观遗传学文献,共检索到Article和Review型文献17112篇,检索时间是2010-11-26,选取2005-2010年的12538篇文献进行分析。
2.分析方法及工具
采用基于数量统计的文献计量学分析方法、共词分析、聚类分析和可视化分析方法,利用Thomson Data Analyzer(TDA)、Ucinet和CiteSpace分析工具,对国际研究表观遗传学文献的时间、国别、机构、期刊、学科、关键词进行分析并进行可视化展示。
